If you REALLY want to know about us

The AlpenMusikanten, a group of musicians made up of one German-American, Alan, a Cajun - American, Paul; two Austrians, Manfred, and Wolfgang: and a Norwegian - American, Gordon; combine their talents and humor to create a memorable experience for the whole family.

Alan Walling  - IL Presidente, the leader, the Man, the guy with the biggest instrument (Accordeon!!!) AND the tallest,.....I think?!

Alan began playing accordion at the age of 7 when he was only 6' tall and living in the Alpine region of Houston.  After taking lessons from well-known accordionists for many years, he realized that the instrument was not just for serious music, but for polkas as well. Alan's professional career began when he was 16. He played with several groups (who prefer to remain anonymous) before the birth of AlpenMusikanten Singing, yodeling, and a knack for being in the wrong place at the right time have driven his career to dizzying plateau. He performs a wide variety of music and sub-par comedy at restaurants, private parties, and any other place that will pay.

Clayton Paul  - "Grande Paulken Master" and former Alpenmusikanten member. He got SO good, he just decided to quit. Nah, that's not completely true. He got tired of making so much money,...he retired. Ok,....that's not true either. Aah, just ask him yourself next time he's in town.

Paul Durapau: Our new percussion addition to the Alpenmusikanten family. Hands down, the best looking one in the band. Unfortunately, he hides behind the average looking guys. Next time you see him, buy him a schnaps or three, won't ya!?

Manfred Zehentmayr  - From good ol' Salzburg. Yep, an original, with the widest vocal range, Bats, watch out!

Plays the clarinet, alto saxophone, guitar and also yodels. He has performed across the United States as a member of the Stratton Mountain Boys and the Sauerkrauts.

Wolfgang Lackner  - Another original Austrian, all the way from the Steiermark. What a talent!! Split personalities but, both of them fit quit well into the program. Playing bass guitar and lead guitar, also entertained as a member of the Stratton Mountain Boys and the Sauerkrauts. His musicianship, outstanding yodeling, and crazy humor brings another dimension to the group. Always a crowd favorite!

Gordon Strand  - Well, let's just say....... He's different.
